12/6/2024 0 Comments Planetary SymbolismDid you know the days of the week are named after planets? When I discovered this, I wondered why I hadn't known this all of my life!
I list the English and French names for planets because it is more intuitive for me.

10/12/2024 0 Comments Light on Yoga, Light on LifeI’ve been doing yoga off and on since 2003. I’ve completed yoga teacher training, but was left feeling like I needed more. Doing yoga in a class, using video, or using an app can be fun, but can come off as feeling superficial, especially to me lately. While I’m sure there are benefits to vinyasas and “fast” hot yoga, I felt like I was “striking a pose” and felt the class moving faster than my breath. It would sometimes be tempting to overstretch; I would try to hold back when my heart was no longer leading. Iyengar’s book Light on Life completely changed my life over the course of fifteen years. It was definitely not easy, and I struggled through a lot of confusion without a spiritual guide. I had yoga teachers, who seemed to know a lot more than they would share, but they were teaching yoga classes, not providing a therapy session. I felt what Iyengar was saying deeply, and I applied it to my yoga practice and my life. For me, yoga is much more than the asanas. Recently, I’ve focused on building my at-home yoga practice. Light on Yoga is the companion book to Light on Life that describes the asanas. Iyengar suggests sequences to practice and build upon week after week. I came up with the idea to teach my own yoga class to myself by recording audio explaining how to do each pose from the explanations in the book. I have to say this worked great! I left enough time in between to hold each pose for the recommended time. I love slowing down, yet being active in each pose. I discovered some nuggets that made me like many postures more than doing them in yoga classes I have attended in the past. Here are my favorite things from Iyengar's weeks 1 and 2 course:
9/29/2024 0 Comments Learning AstrologyI have started learning astrology and I am loving it! My favorite thing has been "discovering" new planets, asteroids, and especially galactic astrology which covers other star systems and deep space objects, OMG!
What most people know about astrology is your sun sign, which is based on where the sun was when you were born. Born in late March, I am an Aries. I also already knew about your moon sign, which is supposed to represent your emotions and inner world vs. how you are seen by others. Most everyone knows about Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, and these planets all have their own symbolism. Have you heard of Chiron, the planetoid rainbow bridge between personal planets and transpersonal planets? Where things got really interesting for me is with Eris. Eris is a dwarf planet like Pluto, discovered in 2005. How did I miss this news story? Was it even in the news? I don't know. Eris represents the dark solar feminine, the return of the Goddess archetype. Eris is a harbinger of a great awakening, a great change. There are also asteroid goddesses Ceres, Juno, Pallas Athena Vesta, and black moon Lillith. I found out about galactic astrology from Julia Balaz. You can get a free galactic astrology chart on her website. I did this and was fascinated with the results. Though I don't understand what everything means, I am very intrigued to find out more, as these placements indicate what other star systems you might be connected with. Galactic connections in my chart include Lyra, Orion, Andromeda, and Galactic. Lyra is supposed to be associated with themes in the healing arts, body-mind-soul, and spiritual teachings. Orion is supposed to be associated with entrepreneurship, and handling and resolving polarity conflicts. A post by Laura Eisenhower raising this question grabbed my attention. I had not heard this conspiracy theory before, but was immediately intrigued. Could the United States really be the military-industrial complex for nazi Germany? Here's how the story goes:
